Sharmila LaPorte joined the Sacramento County Office of Education as Coordinator, Financial Services in June 1998. Sharmila managed the County Office’s internal programs (Juvenile Court School, Community Schools, and College Readiness) and internal processes (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Internal Audits) for 22 years. Since December 2020, she has been serving as the Director of District Fiscal Services where she manages SCOE’s external operations, including fiscal oversight of the County’s 13 school districts. Prior to her school district career, Ms. LaPorte conducted audits of school districts, community colleges, and financial institutions during her five years with a local public accounting firm.

Ms. LaPorte has a Bachelor of Science, Concentration in Accounting, from San Jose State University. Outside of public service, she enjoys running, road trips, and spending time with her husband and two adult children.
