Matt Best has served in numerous capacities throughout his 22-year tenure with DJUSD.

Matt arrived in Davis in 1995 to play collegiate football at UCD. From there, he pursued a career in education, starting as a student teacher at Davis Senior High School. He has since held the roles of lead teacher, principal, assistant, associate, deputy and Interim Superintendent over his career in DJUSD, before becoming Superintendent in April 2022. He also has led many efforts and departments throughout the District including, but not limited to, serving as the District’s lead negotiator, leadership of the Special Education, Student Services, Personnel Services, Capital Operations, Public Information and Climate departments.

His accomplishments within DJUSD aside,  Superintendent Best is foremost a husband and parent of two children who currently attend DJUSD schools.
