Mr. Mark Schiel has served as the Deputy Superintendent / Chief Business Official of the Santa Clara Unified School District since October 2020. Mr. Schiel previously served as the Assistant Superintendent, Business Services for San Marcos Unified School District (San Diego County); Assistant Superintendent, Business Services for Centralia School District (Orange County); Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services for Ocean View School District (Orange County); and Controller for Montebello Unified School District (Los Angeles County). Prior to his career in California school business administration, Mr. Schiel worked for two school districts in Ohio, as well as the State Auditor’s Office of Ohio.
Mr. Schiel holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Malone University and a master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in School Business Leadership from Wilkes University. He also holds the Chief Business Official certification and e-designation (CBOe) from the California Association of School Business Officials.
